More information about the artist

Garage Gallery is pleased to welcome Nadia Zuberi, whose show 'Reclaiming’ is an installation showcasing artwork that reflects her personal journey to understanding and reclaiming her South Asian and Pakistani heritage. Nadia tells us:

"As a person of mixed heritage, born and brought up in the UK, I have struggled at times with Racial Imposter syndrome: a feeling of not belonging or not being authentic enough. Drawing upon South Asian imagery and textile process, ‘Reclaiming’ explores the impact of mixed identities, partition, migration and the resulting diaspora in my work. Using Mughal miniature painting techniques, textiles, printmaking, photography and found objects, I have created an installation of mixed media pieces that confront my preconceptions and growing awareness of my family history.

I am currently studying for an MA Education: Artist Teacher Practice with Oxford Brookes University. During the exhibition I will also be conducting research for my module on Investigating Personal Practice. More information about this will be available in the exhibition. "
